# Authentication flows and SCA

Greek banks primarily use redirect-based flows for PSD2 authentication. End-users are redirected to their bank's login page to enter their credentials and consent to account information sharing or payment execution. Most banks require the user to enter a username (or customer ID) and password, followed by Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) through SMS OTP, mobile app push confirmation, or a hardware token.

# Payment Specifics

All Greek ASPSPs support SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT) in EUR (Euro) via their Open Banking APIs. Support for SEPA Instant Credit Transfers (SCT Inst) is limited and varies by bank and customer profile.

Some banks restrict international transfers or require whitelisting in advance f to non-domestic IBANs.

# Alpha Bank

Alpha Bank's open banking interface uses redirect authentication flow. Credentials used for myAlpha Web (online banking service) and myAlpha Mobile (mobile banking app) are to be input at the bank's authentication web page for open banking.

# Eurobank

Eurobank's open banking interface uses redirect authentication flow, with authentication via e-Banking credentials (username and password) and SCA using Eurobank Mobile App or SMS OTP. There is no automatic app switch; users must open the Eurobank app manually when using app-based SCA.

Payment initiation require full beneficiary details, and the reason for payment field is mandatory for some transaction types.

# NBG

In its open banking interface NBG (National Bank of Greece) uses the redirect authenication flow with SCA via NBG Mobile Banking app or SMS OTP. Users input their Digital Bankings credential, then authenticate using a code or app confirmation. The app does not support automatic switching during redirect — users are expected to open it manually if required.

By default international payments are disabled by default and need to be enabled through the digital banking interface before the can be initiated via Open Banking API.

Piraeus Bank uses redirect flow for authentication in the open banking interface withcredentials from Priaeus e-banking.
