Open Banking Specifics in Luxembourg
# General Specifics
Many banks leverage the LUXHUB platform, a joint initiative by major Luxembourg financial institutions (BCEE, BGL BNP Paribas, Banque Raiffeisen, and POST Luxembourg) that provides mostly standardised PSD2 compliance and API services.
# Authentication flows and SCA
Luxembourg banks predominantly use redirect-based flows for Open Banking authentication under PSD2 regulations. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is typically performed through mobile banking applications with biometric authentication (fingerprint, face recognition) or through dedicated security devices for corporate customers. The authentication methods vary by bank and customer type (retail vs. corporate).

# Payment Specifics
All Luxembourg banks support SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT) in EUR (Euro) through their Open Banking APIs, as Luxembourg is a founding member of the Single Euro Payments Area.
SEPA Instant Credit Transfers (SCT Inst) are supported by major Luxembourg banks, enabling real-time transfers of up to €100,000 that are processed within seconds and available 24/7/365. The instant payment infrastructure provides near real-time settlement between participating banks. Luxembourg banks are complying with the EU's Instant Payments Regulation (IPR), which mandates equal pricing for instant and regular SEPA transfers and includes verification of payee services.
