In this Employee Spotlight, Kayode Asoro shares his story: from joining Enable Banking through an academic program to becoming a key member of our Legal, Regulatory Compliance, and Risk Management team at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland.
He tells us how his unique background in law and finance found the perfect home in the fast-evolving world of open banking, and why accountability remains the value that anchors everything we do.
Watch Kayode’s full story below to learn more about life at Enable Banking and the exciting future of open banking.
From Academic Project to Professional Calling
Kayode’s journey with Enable Banking started in an unexpected way.
“I got in touch with Enable Banking as part of an academic process,” he explains. “I was in a degree program where I had to work in an IT firm. The relationship started there, but it’s since grown into a full-time position.”
With degrees in both law and finance, Kayode found Enable Banking to be a natural fit — a place where his academic knowledge could meet real-world application.
“Open banking is a perfect blend of both,” he says. “It’s one thing to study theories in school, but it’s another to see how they play out technically in real life. That’s been one of my biggest takeaways.”
Where Law Meets Innovation
In his role, Kayode focuses on researching, drafting, and documenting legislation relevant to Enable Banking’s expansion across the European Economic Area (EEA).
“My work often involves looking into payment services, consumer rights, anti-money laundering, and data-processing laws,” he says. “Each country has slightly different regulations, which makes the work both intellectually stimulating and rewarding.”
His day-to-day tasks might sound complex (and they are), but for Kayode, that challenge is part of the fun. It’s where legal precision meets fintech innovation.
“Every job on my desk is exciting,” he admits. “They’re all intellectually engaging. But if I had to choose, researching legislation for passporting activities across EEA countries is the most rewarding.”
A Culture of Accountability and Support
When asked what makes Enable Banking special, Kayode doesn’t hesitate.
“Everything is cool at Enable Banking,” he smiles. “I’m not saying that just to sound nice — it really is. The culture is built on trust and accountability.”
He describes an environment where colleagues support one another and collaboration is second nature.
“If you need help, you can always reach out,” he explains. “Asking for help is encouraged, and it makes your job function better. Everyone knows their responsibilities, and the tools to succeed are always there.”
For Kayode, if one word captures the company culture, it’s accountability.
“It’s a brilliant environment to get things done, where everyone takes ownership — and where success is shared.”
Team Spirit and Motivation
At Enable Banking, teamwork is more than a buzzword, but it’s a daily ritual.
“We have a half-hour meeting every day where we discuss what we worked on, challenges, and progress,” he says. “It’s a highlight of my day because we can bond, share feedback, and motivate each other.”
That culture of recognition extends beyond meetings. Wins, big or small, are celebrated, whether through a simple acknowledgement, a shared lunch, or a small team gift.
“Acknowledgment goes a long way,” Kayode says. “When your effort is noticed, it inspires you to do even more.”
He also draws inspiration from Enable Banking’s co-founders, describing them as “exemplary motivators whose actions encourage the whole team to push forward.”
Open Banking: Unlocking Endless Possibilities
Kayode’s passion for open banking goes beyond regulation. He sees it as the foundation for a broader transformation in finance.
“After PSD2, the whole payment services landscape changed — not only in Europe but globally,” he says. “Open banking is just the starting point. It’s leading us toward open finance and, eventually, open digital economies.”
For him, the real excitement lies in how these innovations will empower consumers and create a more inclusive financial ecosystem.
“Open banking presents endless possibilities for payment and financial services. I’m personally excited about the benefits it brings to both businesses and individuals.”
Beyond the Office
When he’s not navigating the world of compliance and regulation, Kayode enjoys relaxing with his family.
“I have two toddlers, and spending time with them helps me unwind,” he says. “If I’m not with the kids, I love listening to music or playing instruments.”
At Enable Banking, we’re proud to have team members like Kayode, people who bring deep expertise, curiosity, and heart to their work. His story is a reminder that accountability isn’t just a compliance term, but it’s a culture that enables innovation and growth.
